I went to Outdoor School five times. Twice as a fifth and sixth grader and three times as a counselor. Though my time as a student was memorable—a super fun time—I loved coming back as a counselor.
I learned more things about the Earth and the water system than I had been learning in the classroom.
I also gained job skills needed for real life—I learned how to get to a place on time, how to deal with conflicts as well as how to deal with difficult people. I also found a love of leadership and strengthened my leadership skills.
Additionally, I found more confidence in myself—actually singing in front of others. I really came out of my shell and became friends with so many people. Outdoor School became a second home for me. A place where I looked forward to going because there’s something for everyone. Every child should go to Outdoor School. A place where fun meets the classroom. A place for a child to explore their learning.
